BBC North West Tonight Reports: Globus Group Creates Hundreds Of Jobs Bringing Hope To Economic Victims Of The Pandemic
Following the announcement from leading international PPE firm Globus Group on job creation for hundreds of local people, BBC North West Tonight reported on three of their newest recruits who had been made redundant across sectors hardest hit by the consequences of Covid-19 who now work at the Warrington factory.
The manufacturer is recruiting over 600 new staff across its sites in South West Scotland and North West England despite the pandemic.
BBC North West Tonight visited the Alpha Solway manufacturing site in Warrington to report on how the employees feel to become a genuine part of the solution during difficult times.
With its 25 year heritage in PPE, Globus Group’s latest facility lays the foundation for long term, sustainable production in the North West making specialist masks for frontline NHS staff.
The recruitment drive comes as the group boosts its commitment to UK manufacturing to fulfil major contracts with the Department for Health and Social Care and NHS Scotland to make high-performance FFP3 face masks for NHS professionals in England and Scotland.
As a result, a number of individuals who lost jobs within many sectors during the pandemic including hospitality and retail, have been employed by the manufacturer to help accelerate the PPE drive. Aviation and catering are amongst the hardest hit sectors.
