Is my chemical suit fabric "Breathable"?

Answer:

No, it is not. PVC/EPVC and Multi Laminate garments do not breathe when conforming to Type 3 or Type 4 chemical resistant standards (EN465, EN466 or EN14605). Breathability on fabrics is usually tested under pressure, something which is not replicated in normal use. Sweating / heat exhaustion can be a serious issue wearing chemical clothing and this can be reduced by taking regular breaks, using lighter materials or using cool vests underneath. Two-piece suits can also be an option, if the Risk Assessment allows, giving a degree of air circulation within the suit (which is not achievable when wearing a boilersuit style).
